Ted Fattal
Ted Fattal is a Corunna High School graduate and earned 11 Letters in 4 sports. He was All-League in Football, Basketball and Baseball and is the current CHS Football record holder for interceptions in a season and career.
After attending CMU, Ted began his Radio career as a High School Sports Play-by-Play announcer in 1985 and joined WJSZ as Sports Director in 1992. Ted founded & hosted the Sports Forum call-in/interview program on WJSZ on Friday nights following games and has called 25+ MHSAA State Championships in his career.
Awards: Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) first place Football play-by-play award for 1998 Chesaning State Championship call, and MAB and Associated Press (AP) First Place award for 2001 Highlight program "The Ferry Tale" Season.
In 1998 Ted founded "SportsNet Michigan" a sports production company and in 2017 Ted started 3 Point Podcast with his nephew Jerod Fattal of Bally Sports Detroit and Matt Burns of ESPN and archives the Z92.5 games on their page.
Bart Matthews
Bart Matthews grew up in Flint. After attending Central and Southwestern high schools, he graduated from Owosso High School and Ferris State University. Bart began his career at WJSZ in 1995.
Prior to 92.5 FM becoming "The Castle", Bart was the weekend news anchor and a disc jockey for WJSZ's "Oldies and More" format. In 1997, The station became "All Request Radio Z-92.5 The Castle" and Bart was one of the original members of the Castle Crew. While performing a hybrid drive time/late night show, he also served as the station music director, as well as co-host/producer of the "Sports Forum with Ted Fattal" and "The Hog House Blues Show" with legendary guitarist Larry McCray.
2006 saw more changes at the Castle, and Bart spent time playing "An Upbeat variety of the 80s, 90s and Now" as both the morning and afternoon drive time host. He's also Worked in sales and production and hosted live remote broadcasts throughout Mid-Michigan for the Castle.
Bart's been the Color Analyst for High School Football on the Castle since 2012. During that time, he's enjoyed many trips to Ford Field to broadcast State Championship games for WJSZ. When not at work, Bart enjoys home-brewing and vinyl record collecting.
Joe Smith
Joe Smith a Corunna High School graduate, joined the U.S. Navy after high school. After his service Joe began his full-time career in 1979 helping students with disabilities first at ACKCO Services then Saginaw Valley Rehabilitation Center (SVRC) in Corunna before retiring in 2020.
Joe worked part time at the Shiawassee Independent in the early 90's as a sportswriter and was columnist of the popular "End of the Bench - Thoughts of a Sports Wannabe" feature. He began broadcasting on WJSZ in 1994 and was part of very first sports broadcast. He has continued as Color Analyst and fill-in Play-by-Play announcer on basketball broadcasts the last two decades.
Casey Smith
Casey Smith is our recent edition to The Castle high school sports broadcasting crew. Casey went to Corunna High School where he lettered in cross country and golf. He has always had a passion for sports and radio after listening to his uncle, Ted "The Sports Guy" call Friday night games his whole life along with Casey's Dad Joe.
Casey is excited to fill the shoes of his family members, and is excited to continue the tradition of bringing Friday night sports to Mid-Michigan fans. After graduation from Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips), Casey has been a teacher at Corunna Middle School since 2019 where he coaches both boys' and girls' basketball.
Casey is also the drummer for the popular country band "Shiatown" and has played at festivals all over the state.
